Large evergreen tree; pendulous branch tips; leaves spiraled on shoots but come to lie in flattened layers either side of the shoots.

Self-establishing at Castle Hill, Canterbury, in Fuscospora cliffortioides forest from trees planted in gaps created by snow damage.
