Are karapapa berries edible. There is a small piece of bush near the Outward Bound base in Marlborough that was thick with juicy berries on the ground over a 1km distance, during the march period. They looked like purple grapes. Not knowing what it was, I bit into it but spat it even though it was fleshy and tasted sweet.I did some research and it appears it was karapapa berries. Many looked like possums had been eating them but there were thousands. Is this normal. Could I have made a jam from them?
