A list of indigenous vascular plants in New Zealand has been prepared by the New Zealand Plant Conservation Network. This list is freely available in electronic form to Network members. Alternatively you can order a hard copy using the link below.

2357 indigenous vascular plant taxa have been recorded in the New Zealand botanic region and are included on the list. This list will be updated as and when new revisions of New Zealand vascular plant families and genus are completed. It does not include the approximately 200 plant taxa currently considered ‘taxonomically indeterminate' (meaning they have not been formerly described or recognised as distinct). These will be added to the Network list as and when they are described. The taxonomic views expressed in the list are purely those of the authors and the Network.

The document includes two versions of the list ordered in different ways. One is listed by plant group (e.g., orchids, ferns) and the second is listed alphabetically. The list is 97 pages long and file size is 863K.
