NZPCN Biennial conference Whangārei 2024
The role of the NZPCN is to facilitate and advocate for plant conservation as well as providing information and support to plant conservation practitioners, landowners, and managers. Our biennial conferences are highly regarded as the best place to meet people who are passionate about plant conservation and to network and collaborate on shared issues and challenges. Our next conference will take place in Whangārei in October 2024 with the overal theme “Ka mua, ka muri – walking backwards into the future”. With this we will be able to celebrate 21 years of NZPCN, and hundreds of years of plant conservation in Aotearoa, and reflect on how all that has happened informs the future. Keynote speakers include:
- Geoff Davidson will be speaking about the Native Forest Restoration Trust’s legacy of protecting forests across the motu for more than 40 years
- Dean Baigent-Mercer will speak to work being done to protect Northland’s special native ecosystems.
- Lisa Forester will talk about some of the incredible work done in Northland to protect its unique wetland ecosystems
- Taoho Patuawa will speak about threatened native plant conservation
