The NZPCN conference committee regretfully advises the postponement of the 2022 conference which was to take place in Queenstown in March. With the Omicron variant spreading through several New Zealand communities, and forecast to spread further and quickly, the timing is not right. We also have more than 100 participants, a gathering of that size is not permitted under the governments COVID-19 red setting, which we understand and support. The new conference dates are Sunday 4th until Wednesday 7th December 2022. All planned workshops, conference sessions and field trips will go ahead on these new dates and the planned venues in Queenstown. Full refunds will be available for anyone not able to attend the conference on the new dates. We will update registration dates shortly. Please contact Alex Fergus if you have any questions. Thanks in advance for your understanding.
When the conference registration was opened on 1 October 2021 NZPCN stated, “in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak the conference would be postponed until all New Zealand is at Alert Level 1 (based on our understanding of Alert Level 1 on 23 Sept 2021). All conference venues will have QR codes, and Covid-19 registration forms (for those without smart phones and the New Zealand Covid tracer app) which all conference participants will be required to complete or scan into at all venues. Your registration details will be used for contact tracing in the event of a Covid-19 outbreak being identified at the conference. A complete Covid-19 protocol for the conference is being developed, we welcome your questions and suggestions (contact: Alex Fergus )”.
Now that the government is moving away from alert levels, the NZPCN committee has agreed that all conference participants, including those only attending workshops or field trips, will need to be double-vaccinated against Covid-19 and have proof thereof.
For international delegates, please note that traveling to New Zealand is currently not easy - please refer to the government information here for specific details.
