Compact suckering shrub; dark-green trifoliate leaves in opposite pairs, fragrant when crushed; flowers 5-petaled, white, fragrant. Suckers can extend beyond planted specimens (e.g. under paths) and may be long-persistent in gardens after shrubs are removed.
