C. horizontalis resembles C. microphyllus in its sprawling growth and distichous branching system, deciduous habit, and more or less erect, pinkish flowers (Webb et al. 1988). but the leaves of C. horizontalis are more orbicular and flat with rounded (not apiculate) tips and the branching is less strongly distichous (more ‘herring-bone’ pattern in C. perpusillus).
