Detailed description
Uredinia amphigenous and on stems and bracts, scattered, bullate, 0.2–0.6 mm. diameter, ferruginous, pulverulent, partially covered by the ruptured epidermis. Spores elliptical, obovate or subglobose, 26–32 x 24–28 µm, epispore chestnut brown, 2 µm thick, finely and closely echinulate; germ pores scattered, 10-12; immixed with numerous hyaline, cylindrical paraphyses. The large number of scattered germ pores and presence of paraphyses separate this rust from the uredinial stage of Uromyces salicorniae; the latter having only four germ pores.
