New Buttercup Species
A rare new buttercup species, _Ranunculus acraeus_ from North Otago has recently been described by Peter Heenan of Landcare Research. The rare buttercup was first discovered by amateur botanist, Joe Cartman, in 1998. It is restricted to remote areas around Tekapo and North Otago. The largest known population is only 200 plants.
