A Complicated Challenge - Baring Head/Ōrua-pouanui – A Public Land Rare Plant Restoration Project
Baring Head/Ōrua-pouanui is the headland capped with a lighthouse at the eastern edge of the Wellington Harbour mouth. It covers 256 hectares and is comprised of five distinct landforms. As part of the Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) Key Native Ecosystem programme, GWRC and the Friends of Baring Head instigated a restoration project for several Nationally Threatened and At Risk plant species. This talk will explain what species are being targeted, what we hope the outcomes to be, and what involvement I have as a contractor involved with the project.
Enjoy the lovely weather while it lasts!
