Weird and Wonderful Thrive As Voting Continues
From rushes to ratas and lilys to willowherbs, this years vote (which closes on 30 November 2007) has already thrown up some unusual plants in the Top 10. They include the giant wire rush of lowland raised peat bogs of the Waikato and water brome, a nationally threatened grass of wetlands. Previous winners including Cook’s scurvy grass and Chatham Island Christmas tree are failing to register in the on-line poll. Please use your 5 votes.5 voters will win a prize of $100 worth of native plants for use at a restoration project of their choice. These prizes have been donated by the Department of Conservation.
Poll results will be published in the December issue of Trilepidea - the Network’s monthly newsletter.
